VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
STEVE BOUTELLE

Steve, originally born in Minnesota, spent his formative years near Clearwater as the second of four children in a Catholic family deeply rooted in faith and service. After completing his education at UNC and FSU, he relocated to Fort Myers to begin his career with the Lee County Natural Resources Division and to build a new life with his wife, Mary. Steve and Mary have now enjoyed over 36 years of marriage and are proud parents to Taylor, Matthew, and Lily. They eagerly anticipate welcoming Madison as a daughter-in-law this summer.

Upon settling in Fort Myers, they became regular attendees at Covenant Presbyterian. Although Steve initially refrained from joining due to his strong connection to his upbringing, the profound biblical preaching and engaging discussions about scripture eventually inspired him to become a member. These same reasons later led him and many others to transition to New Hope upon its establishment.

As their children grew, Steve frequently volunteered in the children’s ministry. His true calling emerged in 2006, during a mission trip to Chattanooga with the youth. Despite the challenges of sleepless nights, a broken church bus, and a shattered window, Steve discovered countless opportunities to guide the youth in their spiritual journey and deepen their relationships with God and each other. His commitment to volunteering with the youth has continued ever since. While he relishes witnessing the youth mature in their faith, Steve acknowledges that they continually inspire him to grow and actively live out his faith.
