Please join us this Sunday, June 25, as we thank Pastor Ben and Kathy for the time they have spent with us. There will be a basket for cards in the Lobby at the 9:30am and 11:00am services and refreshments after the 11:00am service. Help us show them appreciation and thank them for their ministry here at New Hope. Let us continue to pray God’s blessings over them!
Thank you, New Hope!
VBS was an incredible experience for 280 children! Together, we twisted and turned through the Bible, worship, missions, imagination station, games, and more. Children learned the Gospel as relationships were made with kids and adults. Children are responding with faith in Jesus!
At least one child wished VBS could last all summer long. One boy wrote a note saying, “Thank you! It’s been a great week and I’ve learned a lot about Peter/Simon and a lot about Jesus! The leaders at this camp are amazing!”
VBS made an impact for God’s Kingdom as donations for 43 emergency bags were given through OneMoreChild.org for children entering foster care. Boys took the lead in giving offerings as together we gave $4,218.80 to send 95 vulnerable teens in Thailand to a Christian camp run by New Hope missionaries Adam and Kristy Griffith. $44 sends one teen if you want to designate VBS missions.
Thank you for what you did as 175 people served at VBS or behind the scenes. From 6th graders to 80 year olds, you were significant in filling Jesus’ great commission. Many brought food to feed grateful volunteers during their breaks, prayed for hearts to receive the Gospel, and donated supplies. New Hope gave 33 Bibles to Bible-less children. This is God’s VBS, but it doesn’t happen without us doing our part to pass the faith in Jesus to the next generation. This is one of many ways New Hope lives out the Gospel together!
High School Mission Trip
Tomorrow, June 24, we have 26 high school students and six adult leaders leaving on their Summer Mission Trip to Savannah through Friday, June 30. Please pray for the team as they serve with YouthWorks with food and clothing distribution centers, small home repair projects, and elder care facilities.
The first Thursday of every month, we collect peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for homeless in Lee County. Our next one will be on Thursday, July 6. You can drop off your pre-made, individually wrapped PB&Js that day by noon and we will take them to We Care - a local ministry that supports the homeless.
Lance & Elizabeth Edwards
New Hope has been supporting the Edwards for many years and it has been exciting to see how God has used them in the lives of many people. Elizabeth has developed special skills and abilities in treating wounds that even the doctors in Zimbabwe have appreciated. They come to her now with their difficult cases and God has used her significantly to help bring healing to many.
Lance continues to provide much needed support for many families all around their area with the production of rocket stoves and other practical and much needed areas of assistance.
Some of their work is being interrupted during these days because they are working on the plans for the wedding of Katie to Scott this August in Zimbabwe. Obviously this is a happy time for all of the family. About 30 friends and family are flying from the states to celebrate with them. Pray for Katie and Scott as they start their new life together in their new home in Palatine, IL.
