New Hope eNews - October 10, 2025

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! If you would like to write Sheldon a note or card of thanks for his dedication and spiritual guidance, there will be baskets in the Lobby at the church all month long! Join us this Sunday between services for a donut to celebrate!

At New Hope we believe that everyone wins when leaders get better. If you are in a leadership role or desire to be a leader in the future, then this class is for you.  Leadership Explored is a four-week course designed to cultivate a healthy leadership culture led by Pastor Sheldon and held on Sundays from 3-5pm, starting this Sunday, October 12 in Room 206. We will explore our core beliefs and learn what you need to know and what you need to do and the reason why.

EXCITING START

FOR THE YOUNG ADULTS!

Our Young Adult Group kicked off their first meeting with great enthusiasm last Sunday. They had a fantastic turnout, where attendees enjoyed a meaningful fellowship time and received an inspiring message from Scott. The evening was filled with fun and fellowship as everyone joined in on various games. If you missed out, don't worry! The group is meeting again next Sunday, October 19, at 7pm. Anyone that has graduated high school and between the ages of 18-29 are encouraged to come!

Join us on Thursday, October 23, at noon for a lunch and learn session about dementia and the caregiver's role, presented by Christine Le Conte, the Executive Director of the Dubin Center. The Dubin Center is a local nonprofit agency focused on supporting families affected by dementia. This engaging presentation will cover brain health, dementia, and how to foster connections throughout the journey. You'll gain practical tips for managing brain health and participate in an experiential activity designed to deepen understanding of the patient and caregiver experience.

EARLY CHILDHOOD MINISTRY UPDATE

Our student ministry’s Book Club is meeting again this Sunday, October 5, from 12:30-2pm in Room 212! They will be discussing their latest book choice, The Case of the Screaming Staircase. Any middle and high school students are welcome to attend! Lunch will be provided.

"HELPING HANDS" Men's Clothing Drive

Now through October 19, New Hope is collecting donations of gently-used men’s clothing (sizes S-XXL), belts, socks, and shoes for Fort Myers Rescue Mission. FMRM provides Bible studies and discipleship groups for the men living there. Their vision is to provide a way and a hope for men who have come to the end of their rope financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The men sleep, eat, learn, and study on the campus of the mission and can even earn a GED. They are offered resources to attain consistent paying jobs and many see total transformation of their lives from sinful habits and addictions. Thank you for your donations to this vital ministry!

Dwain Upton sends his love

and the following update:

“The university students who attend Nova School of Business and Economics in Carcavelos have invited me into their lives. As a result of my involvement with them, I have shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, attended church with some, and hosted students in my home for meals and discussions about God. Already, God is moving in the lives of several of these students, and some have told me that they are drawing closer to the Lord. My volunteer leader, Hannah, and I are praying to begin a regular Bible study with students before the end of this semester. Please pray that God will condition their hearts and minds to receive.”
