New Hope News - November 18, 2022

“Father in heaven, we give You thanks for life

and for all of the experiences that life brings us.

We give You thanks for hope, joy, peace, and answered prayers,

but we also give You thanks in our trials, sorrows, and pain.

We give thanks for our land,

for the beauty of the landscape,

for the riches it provides for our living,

for the people and cultures among us.

Above all things, we give thanks for our hope in Christ,

the life and freedom that will ultimately be ours.

Teach us to cherish all Your gifts.

Teach us also to use all these resources

for the good of society and for glory to You.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”

Our church offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. As we gather together with family and friends, let us thank our Lord for His gift of salvation and the loved ones around us. God is good!

Our Wednesday Family Nights fall semester has finished. Adult classes, student ministry, and childcare will begin again on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 for our winter semester.

The first Thursday of every month, we collect peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for homeless people in Lee County. Our next one will be Thursday, December 1, 2022. You can drop off your pre-made, individually wrapped PB&Js that day by noon and we will take them to We Care - a local ministry that supports the homeless.

Take a break from all the baking, shopping, and endless rolls of wrapping paper to join us for an unforgettable Christmas experience celebrating the reason for the season! Jingle Jam will be Wednesday, December 7, from 6-8pm. Meet us in the sanctuary for a variety show style kick off promptly at 6pm and then we’ll head outside for pizza, inflatables, pics with Santa, cookies, hot cocoa, and tons more holiday fun! Invite your friends – it’s a FREE Christmas party big enough for the whole family!

Year End Giving

Now is the time to consider your giving in 2022. For many, it’s the time to review Required Minimum Distributions. For others, God has blessed you abundantly resulting in a desire to give over and above a tithe. Stocks and bonds can be considered for extra gifts. While reviewing this year’s giving, please consider adding New Hope to your will and estate planning. For additional info, contact the church office.

Our youth camp in Thailand this year was a great success! In our team meeting the following week, many team members mentioned “Dee”. Back at our last camp before Covid, Dee had shared with our team that she was depressed, eventually becoming suicidal. Our team began to pray with her and listen to her, even rushing to her side whenever she called late at night. Mental health issues still have a huge stigma in Thailand, so it was hard for her to open up to others, but we did our best and continued to walk alongside her.

Praise the Lord, Dee has come a long way and is now doing so much better! She is a gifted singer and agreed to sing in the worship band. Before camp, we were celebrating how far she had come, then during the last day of the second camp as her final worship set was coming to a close, she grabbed the mic and boldly shared her testimony! “It’s been a long time since I first wanted to end my life. I can’t believe I’ve been alive 21 years now. Thank God and all the people here who invested in me!”
