Happy New Year's Eve!

Happy New Year!  Wait - it’s 2022?!  How did that happen!  Seems like yesterday we were all freaked out about Y2K!

It’s easy for us all to relate more and more to Rip Van Winkle.  Remember him?  He’s the guy in the story that fell asleep for 20 years and woke up to a totally different world.  Well, we might not have been literally asleep for years, but 2022 will likely be different than years past. For example, children born in 2006 will be driving, kids born in 2004 will be voting, and if you were born in the 1950’s you will be eligible to retire soon!
In 2022, there will be likely higher prices.  Inflation is real and it’s here! Since it’s an election year, there will likely be a lot of political ads, name calling, and polarization. There will likely be plenty of things to distract us and, if we are not careful, divide us.  So my prayer for our church as move into 2022 is simple; it’s easy to remember the “address” as it’s Philippians 2:2 (’22- get it?!):  Paul says to “make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.”  Let’s keep the main thing the main thing as we continue to “Glorify God and make disciples by living out the Gospel together!”

I encourage you to read (and memorize) the entirety of Philippians 2 today.  It’s the best way I know of to keep Jesus the main thing!

Blessings In Christ,
Pastor Mike

Don't forget to drop off those individually packaged PB&J sandwiches to the church kitchen on Thursday, January 6 by noon! We'll make sure they'll be delivered to We Care, one of New Hope's mission partners.

We're excited to begin the new year with our fabulous Wednesday Family Nights on January 12 at 6:30pm! From infants thru adults, we've got amazing programming for all! Be sure to check out the details by clicking here and make plans to be on campus for some midweek encouragement and community!

With three terrific options, there's something for everyone! Childcare is available, please contact Pam Poland at pam@newhopefortmyers.org if you have young children needing care.

Did you know New Hope has a lovely columbarium available? A columbarium is a structure for the respectful, public storage of funerary urns, holding cremated remains of the deceased. There is a free lunch and informational meeting on Thursday, January 13 at 11am here at New Hope. If you are interested, please RSVP by contacting Lowell Hamric at 239.561.1644.

Whether you've been a part of New Hope for years or just a few months, we'd love to have you attend our Connections class beginning Wednesday, January 12 at 6:30pm in Room 208. This class gives you an opportunity to meet our staff, learn more about New Hope's vision and values as well as what Presbyterianism is and how our church functions on various levels. Pre registration is not required. Pastor Mike and Michelle Myers lead this interactive class that is part of our pathway to membership.

On Sunday, January 9, we'll be installing our new deacons, elders, and trustee for the Class of 2024. This group was elected via a congregational meeting on 12/5/21. You can read more about this group by clicking here. Installation will take place at both services on January 9.

We urge you to stay spiritually connected with your church family and join us for weekly Sunday worship on campus at 9:30am and 11am or online, as well as checking out the videos from our staff and pastors on the Experience New Hope channel. We’re continuing to pray and if you have concerns about our plans to meet in person or have a prayer need, please do not hesitate to reach out to Pastor Mike at mike@newhopefortmyers.org or 813.368.1680.

With Love,
Your New Hope Team
