SENIOR PASTOR SEARCH

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for

and certain of what we do not see."

~ Hebrews 11:1 ~

In the search for a Senior Pastor, the Search Committee is grounded in faith as illustrated in Hebrews, Chapter 11.
In faith...

  • The Senior Pastor search process is comprised of several stages. Now that Stage 1, Gathering Evidence, is complete, the Search Committee and NL Moore are diligently working through Stage 2, Developing Candidate and Opportunity Profiles. Session recently endorsed the Candidate Profile outlining preferences and benchmarks that will define our ideal candidate. The Opportunity Profile is in final development, summarizing New Hope’s attributes such as our church’s values, priorities, programs, staffing, and worship experiences.
  • Together, we believe God is faithful and merciful, commanding us to, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland" ~ Isaiah 43:18-19
  • Be thankful and pray for what the Lord has done and continues to do. Let us remember today that God is doing new things in our lives and for our church. We are not confined by the past.

Purpose and Authority of the Senior Pastor Search Committee

The role of pastor in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church is that of a Teaching Elder called to serve a local church by the congregation. Elected by and responsible to the congregation, the Senior Pastor Search Committee is tasked with prayerfully seeking and nominating a candidate for the position of senior pastor. Following a diligent search and review process, and with concurrence of the Presbytery, a nominee for senior pastor of New Hope Presbyterian Church will be presented to the congregation for acceptance.
