To glorify God and make disciples by living out the Gospel together, New Hope Presbyterian Church (NHP) expectantly seeks a visionary Senior Pastor to lead and inspire us in creating and equipping disciples of Jesus Christ compelled by grace, truth, and love. We desire a leader to proclaim the Gospel to our neighbors and the nations through pillars of focus on Evangelism, Worship, Leadership, Discipleship, and Shepherding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master of Divinity (or equivalent degree) from an accredited, Reformed seminary.
- Ten years of experience as a pastor.
- Five years of experience as a senior pastor in a multi-pastor staffed church.
- Ordained or able to be ordained in the EPC as a Teaching Elder.
- Experience in pastoring a church of 300 or more; 500 preferred.
- Experience with a large church budget greater than one million dollars.
- Affirmation to the Essentials of the EPC.
These are our expectations for the NHP Senior Pastor. While not expected to do each activity inherent in each area personally, through prayer, leadership, and dependence on our Lord, the NHP Senior Pastor will see these areas of authority responsibly fulfilled.
EVANGELISM
The NHP Senior Pastor will be an engaging leader, carrying out the Great Commission by evangelizing at home and abroad.
- Equip the Church and its people to fulfill the Great Commission.
- Develop and inspire outreach ministries and missions locally and abroad.
- Lift the needs of the congregation and community before God in prayer.
- Seek regular interaction with unbelievers and the culture of our community to help broken people find healing, spiritual purpose, and developing a campus that supports those needs.
WORSHIP
The NHP Senior Pastor will be a Bible-centered, compelling communicator who provides wisdom and insight by effectively living and sharing the scriptural truths of the Word.
- Lead the congregation in worship and community that center lives on God.
- Communicate scriptural truths practically, emphasizing expositional preaching and teaching the whole Council of God in the Word each Lord's Day and on special occasions.
- Preserve the service and preparation of hearts for worship and honor of God, ensuring the proper elements are observed, including the reading of Holy Scripture, singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, the offering of prayer, the preaching of the Word, the presentation of offerings, confessing the faith, and observing the Sacraments.
- Foster a welcoming and informative atmosphere of hospitality for all who come to worship.
LEADERSHIP
The NHP Senior Pastor will be a demonstrated servant leader who can lead as a strategic visionary while coaching staff, lay leaders, volunteers, and others for extraordinary results and responsibilities.
- Inspire the staff, Session, Deacons, and Congregation, to put into action the mission, core values, vision, and purpose for NHP as established by the Session and Congregation.
- Support and work with the Session to organize and define the responsibilities of staff, Deacons, and other leadership.
- Foster accountability for providing the congregation with regular worship, Christian education, Missions, inter-generational and group ministry, pastoral care, community engagement, fiscal health, and facilities expansion.
- Guide, oversee, and contribute to NHP's administrative policies, personnel, facilities, logistics processes, and managerial issues for continuous improvement and growth.
- Collaborate with the Session, Deacons, and staff to develop annual ministry goals, objectives, and budgets for NHP's ministry, to ensure their ongoing effectiveness.
- Promote self-spiritual and emotional development and health through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, commitment to a Christian lifestyle above reproach, sound in the faith, and wise in the things of God.
DISCIPLESHIP
The NHP Senior Pastor will collaborate with Session, Diaconate, staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to grow more like Jesus Christ and depend on the Lord in prayer for all we do.
- Seek and guide the development, discovery, mentoring, and training of elders and deacons to grow NHP leaders and disciples of Jesus Christ who bless each other, our Church, our community, and our world.
- Exhibit wisdom in leadership efforts on personal and direct training for the most significant impact on growing leaders throughout the body.
- Create a Church culture of generosity that increasingly embodies Jesus Christ's example of servant leadership.
- Foster intergenerational mentorship and relationships to energize a full range of discipleship, community, and mission groups focusing on following and becoming more like Jesus Christ.
- Develop, oversee, and engage with Christian education, life groups, new member classes, youth programs, and ministries for intergenerational and spiritual growth.
SHEPHERDING
The NHP Senior Pastor will exemplify a shepherd's heart for our ministry, listening to understand and offering compassionate care.
- Lead joint ministry with the Ruling Elders for all those who need care, love, and compassion.
- Provide pastoral counseling to member families in need and through personal relationships.
- Foster and refine the heart of every ministry in the Church, including corporate worship, Christian education, small groups, individual counseling, visitations of the home-bound, caregiving for members, outreach programs, missions, serving the poor, and ministering to families.
- Participate in the daily lives of the congregation through life’s passages and challenges.
- Encourage and serve Church members and the community, seeking to extend the influence of the Church, Christian morality, and ministry to unbelievers, the less fortunate, and the poor in our community.
