DUNBAR HIGH SCHOOL
Dunbar High School is a secondary school serving 1,700 families. The school includes an International Center which serves students in 9th-11th grades with emphasis on English language acquisition and increasing lexile reading scores. Many of these underclassmen have moved directly from a Central American country, with Guatemala a majority nationality. Dunbar is also home to a Center for Math & Science, and offers career opportunities for many STEM related vocations. More than half of the school as a whole serves families living below the poverty line.
Basketball booster season is over, but New Hope is still participating in a variety of ways to serve our neighbors at Dunbar High School. In a few weeks, New Hope will serve as a test site for students in the IB diploma program. Another way that we can serve Dunbar families is by donating to the Tiger Market, a place where underprivileged students can receive food items along with hygiene products like body wash and deodorant.
Join in praying for the families of students at Dunbar, that they might know God as their provider in all seasons. Pray too, for the current seniors as they approach graduation - that all their requirements would be met and that they would move confidently forward into their future plans.
