K-5th grade ministry and early childhood ministry are available during our Sunday morning 9:30am traditional service and 11am contemporary service as well as our Wednesday Family Nights which run fall, winter and spring semesters.
At New Hope Presbyterian Church, we seek to provide a safe and loving space for the youngest members of our church family by offering special care for children from three months through pre-kindergarten.
SUNDAYS
On Sunday mornings, our early childhood ministry is open for loving care during the 9:30am and 11am worship services.
Nursery programming is based on special lessons just right for our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Each Sunday we will guide the children in positive experiences related to three simple truths: “God made me,” “God loves me,” and “Jesus wants to be my friend forever,” using age appropriate activities, stories, crafts, and snacks.
WIGGLE ROOM
A "Wiggle Room" adjoining the sanctuary is provided for the comfort of families with infants during worship.
HOW PARENTS CAN HELP
NURSERY GUIDELINES
It is our desire to give young children the very best of care. Our goal is that your child’s first experiences of the church be positive ones. Therefore, we ask your cooperation in observing our policies for the welfare of all concerned.
A Nursery visitor card must be completed for each new child, so that we have the necessary information regarding your child’s needs. All other children will have their information put into Eli so we may take attendance.
Child care is provided for various church functions. You are expected to attend the church function if you bring your child to Little Sprouts. Children must be picked up within 15 minutes after an event is over.
If your child has any symptoms of illness, please do not bring him/her to the nursery. If your child becomes sick while in the nursery, you will be called and asked to pick him/her up. Your considerations for others will mean less illness for all of our children. Please keep your child home if you observe any of the following symptoms: excessive or colored nasal discharge, congestion, fever, rash, chills, lethargy, vomiting, pale or flushed skin, red or sore throat, coughing, diarrhea, watery or red eyes.
Please label all of your child’s possessions – diaper bags, cups, bottles, pacifiers, toys, etc.
Parents are to furnish their children’s disposable diapers, infant formulas, milk, and juice.
If your child has food sensitivities or allergies, please notify caregivers at drop off.
If your child is in the process of potty training, please provide a change of clothing including socks and shoes, in a zip-lock bag with your child’s name on the bag. We have provided stickers to alert staff of those children who are “In Training”.
Please have all open sores covered with band-aids or gauze.
Gum is not permitted in the nursery.
Any child can have a bad day. At any time, if the caregivers are unable to correct your child with verbal messages, then a caregiver will contact you. If a child is seriously upset for 10-15 minutes and cannot be soothed you will be contacted and asked to help calm the child and try again. It may take more time for some children to adjust to the separation.
EARLY CHILDHOOD
MINISTRIES STAFF
The Early Childhood Ministry at New Hope consists of staff and volunteers to meet the needs of our New Hope families. All adult staff have had background checks and most have CPR and First Aid Training.
We treasure our volunteers who help rock babies, read stories, play games with preschoolers, decorate our hallway, and give lots of love! If you are interested in serving in the nursery or behind the scenes, please email michelle@newhopefortmyers.org. We offer many different opportunities to serve throughout the week.
