THANK YOU,

ROCKET!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Dr. Lornalee Curtis - aka "Rocket" - for her dedicated service at New Hope over the past year. This week she submitted her resignation, effective September 29, due to family circumstances that will require her to be out of state for the remainder of the fall.

Rocket shared that she has been richly blessed by the opportunity to play the organ and piano and to work alongside Music Director Ellen Whitten. Her friendship with the choir and many members of our congregation will be deeply missed.

We are grateful for the blessing of Rocket’s musical contributions to our church community. As her time with us draws to a close, we ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers and also remember us in your prayers as we begin the search for her replacement.

Please take a moment in the coming weeks to express your gratitude to Rocket for her service and the joy she has brought to our worship.

EARLY

CHILDHOOD

UPDATE

This month in Early Childhood, we are talking about THE light that God sent into the world to shine bright for the entire world to see. The light's name is Jesus! Each time we choose to love like Jesus, we become a bright light like Him. Some ways we can be a light include: helping those in need, sharing, and letting others go first. It’s been such a joy to teach our little ones that each and every time we do things that show love for others, we are shining bright like Jesus! “You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:

MICHELLE MYERS

Michelle Myers wears many hats at New Hope, serving as the Director of Family Ministry. Her deep commitment to families is evident in everything she does.

Michelle grew up in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, with her parents, sister, and brother. When she was eight years old, her family began attending church, and it was during this time that she developed a personal relationship with Jesus, a bond that has grown stronger over the decades.

Michelle married Mark, and they started their life together on Florida’s West Coast. After eight years of marriage, they faced the challenge of infertility, embarking on a long and frustrating journey. During this period, Michelle’s faith was tested like never before. “With huge medical expenses, seemingly endless procedures, and a weariness I’d never known, the Lord was faithful to sustain and strengthen me as I navigated the emotional roller coaster,” Michelle reflects. She carried index cards with scripture reminders of God’s faithfulness in her pocket, reading them repeatedly until the cards eventually fell apart. Isaiah 49:16 was a significant source of comfort, reassuring her that, regardless of the outcome of their efforts to have children, God saw her and was with her.

Their prayers were answered with the birth of their daughter, Olivia. Although they faced more years of loss and struggle, the Lord continued to sustain and provide for them, eventually welcoming a son and two more daughters into their home.

VERITY PREGNANCY & MEDICAL RESOURCES

Not long ago, a young woman planning to choose abortion drove past Planned Parenthood. She didn't stop or talk to anyone or go into the facility. But she saw volunteers praying there and something stirred in her spirit, and she felt she could not pursue abortion. She found Verity and was able to see her unborn child on the ultrasound screen and affirmed her choice for life.

Another 40 Days for Life starts next week and we have committed to pray in front of Planned Parenthood from 2-4pm on Tuesdays. Would you be willing to join us? Just your presence could move someone to seek out Verity and choose life.

You can learn more about Verity on their website
at pregnancyfortmyers.com.
