New Hope eNews - October 18, 2024

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Scott Connell, David Milligan, and their dedicated team of volunteers for their prompt response to assistance requests following Hurricane Milton. By Tuesday afternoon, all requests for help had been successfully addressed! Their dedication is a testament to New Hope’s commitment to living out the gospel together.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month! It's a wonderful opportunity for us to express our heartfelt gratitude for Sheldon’s dedication and commitment to guiding our congregation. Throughout this month, there will be a basket in the lobby and we encourage you to take a moment to reach out to Pastor Sheldon with words of encouragement, prayers, and acts of kindness.

If you attend our 11am Contemporary Service and would like to familiarize yourself with the songs we will be singing this Sunday, here are the links to check them out:

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:

KELLIE WITENKO

Kellie Witenko serves as the Children’s Ministry Administrative Coordinator. She has been married to her husband, Jon, for 22 years. They met at the same high school two of their children currently attend. Jon and Kellie are the proud parents of five children: Lorelai (17), Kinley (15), Knox (13), Beckett (11) and Winslet (11). The entire family enjoys being actively involved here at New Hope.

“I’ve always believed God was real, but that was the extent of it,” Kellie reflects. She began building a relationship with God after the birth of their first daughter. “Her birth reunited us with friends from high school who were strong in their faith and willing to answer the myriads of questions my husband, then a devout atheist, had about Christianity. I saw God working in him during those months as he challenged their beliefs.”  When Jon accepted Jesus into his heart and was baptized, Kellie got to see firsthand the transformative power of His love. “This ignited a flame in my own heart, and we’ve been happily growing closer to God as a family ever since,” she shares.

At New Hope, one of Kellie’s key roles is to encourage others to serve in the Family Ministry. “The opportunity for children to learn about faith and connect with members of their church community is invaluable. I love seeing both the children and the volunteers benefit from these meaningful relationships.”

Ladies, we encourage you to join us for an enriching Bible study titled The Wonder of Advent. We will meet every Wednesday from 10am-noon starting on November 6. Please purchase your study book beforehand (available on Amazon or Lifeway). We are looking forward to a blessed time together!

JUVIE JAIL MINISTRY

A group of volunteer women from New Hope go regularly to the Juvenile Detention Center to share with a small group of girls. The ladies bring cookies and lemonade for the girls, but more importantly they bring the Bible for a lesson, share a story, and offer prayer. There are all kinds of responses, but these girls are hearing the gospel every time. They write down their prayer requests which are then shared with and prayed for by some of the Prayer Warriors at New Hope. Let us know if you would be willing to bake some cookies for them to take along and, of course, please be praying for this important outreach of love and hope!
