STAFF SPOTLIGHT:

MATT PHILLIPS

Matt Phillips joined the staff at New Hope on Christmas Eve of 2021. Before his time at New Hope, he served at a PCUSA church for seven years. Despite being part of the staff and attending weekly services, he never fully grasped the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus. “The past three years have been the most rewarding and enjoyable time I have spent serving in ministry. The wonderful congregation welcomed me with open arms, and that helped me grow in the faith,” says Matt.

“About two years ago, I found Christ. I prayed alone in the Sanctuary one afternoon, asking Jesus to reveal Himself to me.” Matt waited patiently for a sign that Jesus was with him. “He finally revealed Himself to me about a month later on my Wedding Day,” Matt recalls. A rainstorm delayed his outdoor wedding, and during that time, he felt Christ telling him not to worry. “Immediately after, the rain stopped! I knew He had my back.” Six months later, Matt mentioned to his wife that he believed Christ was present at their wedding. “She turned to me and said that she felt the presence of our Lord that day as well! From then on, my eyes were opened to all of the times Christ was with me, next to me, and waiting for me to come to Him.”

Matt now sees the world through a new lens with God in his life. He enjoys sharing his testimony and the Gospel with others who do not know Christ. “Because of Him, I need not worry. With my trust in Him, I am more than prepared to face tomorrow and whatever challenges it may bring. Thanks be to God!”
