Join us this Sunday as we get back to our "Captive" sermon series. Pastor Sheldon will speak about "When Work & Idolatry Collide" as we look at 2 Thessalonians 3:6-10.
“Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."
If you attend our 11am Contemporary Service and would like to familiarize yourself with the songs we will be singing this Sunday, here are the links to check them out:

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
CINDY LAWRENCE
Cindy Lawrence's life is a testament to the profound impact that faith and the church can have on one's life journey. Raised in a large family of nine, with her father serving as a Missouri Synod Lutheran Pastor, Cindy's early years were steeped in the teachings and community of the church in Eau Claire, WI. These formative experiences laid a strong spiritual foundation as she was baptized as an infant and confirmed at 14.
Cindy and her husband, Mark, began their life together as high school sweethearts. Though their move to the Minneapolis lake area and busy careers pulled them away from regular worship, their faith was reignited in Wichita, KS. After the terrifying experience of nearly losing her life to Invasive Group A Strep and Toxic Shock following their second child's birth, they were embraced by the warmth of a local church community they had just visited. The love and support they received were life-giving, providing sustenance in the form of meals, babysitting, and spiritual encouragement. This experience revitalized their faith! After several months, Cindy was released from rehab on Easter, making Easter a particularly cherished holiday for them.
Once their children left for college, Cindy and Mark relocated to Florida and found a home at New Hope, drawn in by the biblical teachings and contemporary worship music. This church became a sanctuary where Cindy could channel her faith into action, becoming involved in various missions such as Juvie Jail and Colonial mentors. Her leadership extended to serving as a leader in the Lois Ladies Circle, playing handbells, working in the front office, and co-leading the Good News Club at Colonial Elementary.
Beyond her church life, Cindy is active in the adaptive golf community. She loves her extended family, her faith community, and time with her precious grandson, Elisha.
