Join us this Sunday as Pastor Sheldon continues our "Captive" series. We will learn about "When Sex & Idolatry Collide" while looking at 2 Samuel 11:1-5.
“In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king's house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful. And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, 'Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?' So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house. And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David, 'I am pregnant.'"

MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT RECAP
Our Winter Retreat for middle schoolers (6th-8th grade) was held overnight on New Hope's campus in January and was an exciting time for all! Our theme was EVERYTHING: Loving God with Everything is truly Everything! Special speaker, youth pastor Jared Hacking, from Fellowship Community Church in NJ, shared in depth messages with us centered around Matt. 22:37-39. We enjoyed a bonfire, lots of candy, and extreme games. There's nothing like staying up all night with teens!
All ladies of New Hope (middle school age and up) are invited to join us in making a positive impact on the women served by local ministries Verity and Thrive. Enjoy a delicious continental breakfast on Saturday, February 15, from 9:30-11:30am in Room 212 as we come together in support and fellowship. We will be joined by guest speakers Megan DeLuca, President of Thrive of SWFL, and April Leuder, Assistant Executive Director of Verity Medical Clinic. We're kindly asking each attendee to bring a gift card of any amount from Walmart, Target, or Amazon (Please note the amount on the gift card). Please click here to register if you will be attending. We look forward to you joining us for a morning of inspiration and kindness!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
SIGNE PAGEL
Signe Pagel was a Minnesota resident until she and her husband Doug moved to Fort Myers in 2005 to escape the cold weather of the north. She had recently retired from a 32-year career with International Dairy Queen where she was a corporate officer of Human Resources and Meeting & Travel Services. Signe and Doug have four children between them, three of whom still enjoy Minnesota, but Danielle relocated to Fort Myers four years after Signe and also joined New Hope.
Raised in a Christian household, Signe regularly participated in Sunday school, three years of confirmation studies with the pastor (where weekly sermon notes were required), youth group activities, and she sang in the church choir beginning in 9th grade. She cherishes this Christian foundation.
When Signe and Doug moved to Fort Myers, they were led to Covenant Presbyterian and then became founding members of New Hope. Signe says this is when she more fully realized the sacrifice Christ made for her and her desire for a deeper relationship with Him. “Through New Hope’s pastors, various Bible study groups such as The Well and women’s Circle, and the power of the Holy Spirit, my eyes and heart were opened to the abundance of God’s love for me through Christ Jesus.” Signe initiated a women’s Bible study group in her community and has served in various roles at New Hope: as deacon, elder, leader of Women of New Hope for several years, an usher, choir member, and she is currently clerk of Session.
