Jim Mayer: A Faithful Servant
Jim was our Director of Missions for many years. Anyone that knew Jim, knows that he served the church, community, and world with the love of Jesus in his heart. He had a passion for missions both locally and globally, dedicating his time to encourage missionaries and establish partnerships with numerous local missions. When speaking of his testimony, Jim said:
“My testimony is not so much a before and after story because I trusted Christ as my Savior when I was very young. But it is a brief look at the triumph I have experienced in Christ through the many deaths I have experienced. These include the death of my father when I was 17, of my marriage after 28 years, of my best friend, of my mother, of two of my sons, and my only daughter and most recently my great-granddaughter. These losses stand in contrast to the surpassing greatness of what I have found in Jesus Christ. He has abundantly blessed me with more than 25 years with Judy, has given me many opportunities to serve Him, and has cared for all my needs through 86 years of life. He is my Lord and Savior and I am satisfied with Him. My desire is to share Him with any who will listen.”
Jim displayed a beautiful example of being Christ’s hands and feet. Even on his last day on earth, he had visited Colonial Elementary as well as a church member in the hospital, and had prayed with and for many others. He leaves a huge hole in our hearts, as well as a glorious legacy!
Heavenly Father,
We lift up our hearts in gratitude for the gift of mothers. We thank You for the love, wisdom, and strength that You have bestowed upon them, allowing their lives to nurture and guide our paths.
We pray for mothers from every generation—grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and all women whose nurturing hearts have touched others' lives. May You bless them abundantly for their unwavering love and countless sacrifices.
Lord, we ask for Your strength and encouragement to fill the hearts of new mothers, who embrace the joyous yet challenging journey of motherhood. Give them courage and grace as they nurture and nourish the hearts of the future generation.
We also remember those who long to be mothers and those who have lost children. May they find solace in Your loving presence and community support.
Amen.

Early Childhood Ministry Update
Just like Noah, Moses, and Nehemiah, God is going to give our preschoolers big things to do. God is also going to give them little things to do. And whether it’s a big thing or a little thing, we want our preschoolers to know that they have the Lord our God to help them. In May, we’re using Bible stories to teach our littlest ones that God helps me do big things! Memory verse for May: “I know that God helps me.” ~ Psalm 54:4 (NIRV)
