New Hope eNews - July 3, 2026

The first Sunday of each month, we encourage you to give above and beyond your normal tithes and offerings towards our Care and Compassion Fund which is used to help people in our church and community who are having temporary financial struggles. Simply indicate "Care and Compassion" on the memo line of your check or on your envelope this Sunday or click here to give online.

If you attend our 11am Contemporary Service and would like to familiarize yourself with the songs we will be singing this Sunday, here are the links to check them out:

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mike Whitten, beloved husband of our Traditional Music Director, Ellen Whitten.

In lieu of a formal memorial service, the family has invited our church family to gather for a time of Fellowship and Remembrance this Sunday, July 5, at 12:15pm (immediately following the 11am worship service) in Room 212. Light refreshments will be served as we come together to share memories, offer our love and encouragement, and surround the family with the support of their church family.

“SERVE YOUR CITY” RECAP

Our Student Ministry spent the week serving our community through a variety of hands-on projects across Fort Myers. Throughout the week, students demonstrated Christ's love by meeting practical needs, building relationships, and sharing kindness wherever they went.

Monday: Cleaned up the Dunbar neighborhood and served PB&J sandwiches and popsicles while spending time playing with children at Renaissance Preserve.

Tuesday: Provided lawn maintenance for One More Child.

Wednesday: Enjoyed a devotional at Ride Nature, participated in a prayer walk through downtown Fort Myers, and created bookmarks for Verity Pregnancy Center and the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.

Thursday: Served at ECHO by helping with work on the farm.

Friday: Blessed our community with a free car wash and any optional donations went to support Sarai and her missions work.

Saturday: Volunteered at the Midwest Food Bank.

Thank you to everyone who prayed for our students and leaders throughout the week. We are grateful for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community!

New Hope exists to glorify God and make disciples by living out the gospel together. As a leader, you are constantly presented with opportunities for discipleship, having the chance to model the love of Christ in all of your interactions with others. The Global Leadership Summit provides practical and critical tools to help you develop your leadership skills and knowledge with other like-minded individuals who are striving to do the same. We will be a host of The Global Leadership Summit on August 6–7.

COMMUNITY CARE DRIVE:

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Colonial Elementary, a nearby Title 1 school, is improving educational opportunities to children pre-k through 5th grade in disadvantaged families.

One of the goals of Colonial Elementary is to increase proficiency for all of their enrolled students, many of whom receive additional literacy help weekly. New Hope supports the Colonial community through regular support to staff and teachers, donations of school supplies for families, and sponsorship of various school events throughout the year.

GIVE:

Join us the whole month of July as we kick off a school supply drive for Colonial Elementary and Dunbar High School! Grab a bag in the Lobby on Sunday, fill it with the mentioned items, and return by July 26! Among the most requested items are: pencils, dry erase markers, crayons, markers, highlighters, scissors, erasers, index cards, pencil boxes, pencil sharpeners, and paper (wide ruled).

PRAY:

  • Pray for the leadership and staff all year long to have clear direction and unity.
  • Pray that God would be moving in the hearts of Colonial children and their families.
  • Pray for our New Hope team of reading mentors, that their dedication to the students would reflect God’s love for them.

GO:

August 5 is Colonial’s Open House date. You can volunteer to assist families as they navigate important information for the school year. For more details or to sign up, email rachel@newhopefortmyers.org.
