VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
SUE McCORMICK

Raised Catholic, Sue's interest in God began during her childhood when she spent many hours with her maternal grandmother, attending church and observing her grandmother’s faith and unconditional love. Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in her early 20s and joined Christian churches, yet she never formed the deep relationship with Jesus she craved. In 1996, Sue married her soulmate, Alex, and together they have four grown children and four grandchildren.

In July 2017, Sue and Alex moved from Michigan to Fort Myers. By February 2023, Sue was undergoing treatment for chronic, permanent lung disease with life-altering medications. During this time, she temporarily lost her vision for three days and her health quickly declined. Her sister, Valerie, and niece, Kendall, played a crucial role in bringing her closer to Jesus Christ, and Sue began to feel His words penetrate her heart. God led her to Acts 9:8-9, which irrevocably transformed her.

God then prompted them to join a church, and with an invitation from their neighbors, they came to New Hope in October 2023. “It feels like home here,” Sue immediately said. She began attending a Bible Study the following Wednesday and was greeted with warmth, love, and support. Both Sue and Alex began attending Bible Studies together, reading scripture, and attending church, officially becoming members in March 2025.

Sue felt prompted to volunteer in the church office and, despite her health challenges, she began volunteering this past March. A greatly valued member of New Hope shared, “My illness doesn’t define me; it’s what I have, not who I am.” New Hope is an amazing gift from God, and Sue feels incredibly blessed and grateful for the support and deep relationships that she has formed. There is something deeply spiritually moving and fulfilling about being among other believers and serving the Lord in a thriving church community.

PATH2FREEDOM

We invite you to rejoice with us as we celebrate what the Lord has done through our New Hope Family! Rachel Frey had the privilege of presenting the check of your generous gift, totaling $51,808.60 to Path2Freedom. This vital contribution to their mission will directly support the expansion of their Safe Home initiative, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment where survivors can begin their journey to recovery.

Path2Freedom, guided by its continued mission to provide hope and healing to child survivors of human trafficking, creates safe environments coupled with programs for recovery and empowerment of survivors. They stand as a beacon of hope and transformation, living out their mantra of "Rescue to Restoration." This donation will aid in enhancing the long-term focus on individualized education, life skills development, trauma counseling, and occupational readiness, which are essential for rebuilding lives shattered by trafficking.

By supporting Path2Freedom, we are living out the gospel together, not only by providing financial aid, but by partnering in a cause that transforms lives. Enjoy a cookie in the Lobby this Sunday as we mark this momentous occasion for our church and the impact for our community. Thank you!

Other ways to get involved: Volunteers are essential to meeting the challenge of human trafficking and are the heartbeat of Path2Freedom. Passionate, caring, and like-minded people are needed to join in the ministry.

• Part-time classroom help in a homeschool setting.
• Drivers for medical appointments and family visitations.
