"HELPING HANDS" School Supplies Drive
Throughout this entire month, our church has been gathering essential items to support two local schools, ensuring that students and their families have what they need for a successful start to the school year. If you haven’t yet, please gather up some of the needs from the following list and drop them off in the church Lobby by this Sunday, August 31. We are grateful for the generosity many of you have shown—thank you for being a blessing!
NEW HOPE NAME TAGS
If you would like a New Hope name tag, please add your name to the list at the Welcome Table in the Lobby at the church. We will be putting in an order at the end of the month (September 29). Your first one is complimentary and replacements are available for $10.
We want to remind everyone of the importance of staying vigilant against phishing scams. It's crucial to be aware that neither the church nor anyone on our staff will ever email you requesting gift cards, money transfers, or personal information.
Phishing scams often attempt to impersonate trusted individuals or organizations to trick you into providing sensitive information or financial support.
Please be cautious and follow these guidelines to protect yourself:
• Verify the Source: If you receive an email claiming to be from the church or any staff member asking for personal or financial information, do not respond. Contact the church office directly.
• Avoid Clicking Links: Do not click on any suspicious links or download attachments from unknown or unverified emails.
Your safety is our priority. We appreciate your cooperation in protecting your personal information.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
TABITHA DILLEHAY
Tabitha was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, but moved to Fort Myers in first grade, considering herself a native Floridian. Her childhood was deeply rooted in faith, as her mother ensured they attended church regularly. At age seven, Tabitha was saved at a Halloween Church party. For college, she returned to Michigan to attend Spring Arbor University, attracted by both a scholarship to play basketball and the proximity to her grandparents and aunt.
At Spring Arbor, Tabitha met Mark, and soon her focus shifted from basketball to starting a life together with him. After Mark graduated, they settled permanently in Fort Myers. They have four children: Emily and her husband Regan live in Johnson City, Tennessee; Sarah and her husband Trevor reside in Durham, North Carolina; Ty is a sophomore at UF; and Katie is a high school senior.
Tabitha embarked on a career in education shortly after her marriage. With 30 years of dedicated service, she knows it's her calling. Currently, she is the Principal of the lower school at Classical Christian Academy and enjoys teaching Pre-Calculus to 11th and 12th graders. Her workplace feels like family and she treasures her role there. Tabitha also has a passion for Odyssey of the Mind, having coached a team for 13 years.
For the past decade, Tabitha's family has attended New Hope. Here, she's been active in numerous ministries, enjoying summer missions with the youth group and leading 11th-grade girls in small group sessions since they were in the 6th grade. She's cherished mentoring them and learning from their growth. Her favorite verse, Proverbs 16:3, guides her commitment to staying within God's perfect will.
Mark your calendar and make plans to join us for Discover New Hope—an experience designed to help you learn more about New Hope and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and part of our pathway to membership. An Update From Lance & Elizabeth Edwards:
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Elizabeth is the only certified wound care nurse in Bulawayo (a city of one million). She runs an advanced wound management clinic under Sizolwethu Health Trust and often collaborates closely with local hospitals to care for patients who cannot afford treatment. Together with New Life International, Lance and Elizabeth produce and donate 200 liters each week of hypochlorous acid, an effective wound antiseptic, dramatically improving wound management across Bulawayo. They gratefully see God's recent provision of an additional full-time nurse and for miraculously providing the Clinic House.
Lance serves young men with hearing challenges, teaching practical skills like welding, fabrication, painting, and building. Whenever possible, he uses community development projects as hands-on training opportunities. In addition, Lance partners with Foundations for Farming, leading trainings with his small Ndebele-speaking team, and uses his gift for innovation to develop appropriate technologies that bring practical help to the poor—particularly in clean cooking stoves and safe water solutions. Most recently, Lance led the design and build, with deaf workers, of large horse stables for a local ministry that uses horse therapy for physically and emotionally challenged children.
“Thank you for the faithful prayers and support that help to sustain us in life and ministry in Zimbabwe. We are so grateful for His grace in our lives and ministry!”
